Residents Who Need Extra Help

Register Now So Emergency Responders Can Better Assist You.

Wildfires, floods, evacuations, and power outages can happen quickly. Some residents may need additional time, transportation, medical support, or communication assistance during an emergency.

The Village Emergency Assistance Registry (VEAR) helps emergency responders identify residents who may need extra assistance during emergency events.

By registering in advance, you can help responders better understand your needs during an emergency, though assistance cannot be guaranteed.

Village Emergency Assistance Registry (VEAR)

Register Before an Emergency Happens

The Village Emergency Assistance Registry, or VEAR, is a voluntary program that helps local and state emergency responders identify residents who may need additional assistance during wildfires, floods, evacuations, power outages, or other emergency events.

Important to Know

By participating in the Registry, you permit the Village of Ruidoso to share your information with local and state emergency responders.

The information you provide may help responders meet your needs during an emergency, though assistance cannot be guaranteed.

Who Should Register?

VEAR Is for Residents Who May Need Additional Support

Standard emergency evacuation systems are designed for people who can quickly receive a notification, make a decision, and move independently. Not every resident can do that alone.

Why It Matters

Advance Registration Helps Emergency Planning

During fast-moving emergencies, conditions may change quickly and responders may have limited time. Registering before an emergency helps the Village and emergency response partners better understand community needs in advance.

  • Helps identify residents who may need additional assistance
  • Supports emergency planning and response coordination
  • May help responders understand medical, mobility, transportation, or communication needs
  • Encourages residents and caregivers to prepare before an emergency
